SUMMARY Early education is an integral part of daily living. Early 'special’ education for handicapped children involves adapting the daily living environment to enable each individual child to make the optimum use of such ability and development potential as he has. Parents are the first and most important educators of their children. It is the role of professional people to guide this early education via the parents. Early assessment, as a basis for such educational planning is discussed in general terms.
