S ummary . Certain modifications to the previously published ICSH recommendations (1978) have been approved by the Iron Panel of the International Committee for Standardization in Haematology (ICSH). They include substitution of the chromogen bathophenanthroline sulphonate with ferrozine or ferene, which are more sensitive and cheaper, and a reduction in the volume of the test sample from 2 ml to 0.5 ml.
