S ummary . Procrythroblasts of three patients with α‐methyldopa induced haemolytic anaemia showed inhibition of [ 3 H]uridine incorporation after incubation with α‐methyldopa as compared with proerythroblasts of healthy individuals; incorporation of [ 3 H]thymidine was not affected. It was shown that the inhibitory effect of α‐methyldopa on uridine incorporation is due to the drug itself and not to plasma factors, nor to the haemolytic process. The possibility that this phenomenon might serve as a test for demonstration of α‐methyldopa sensitivity is discussed.
