S ummary . A 17‐yr‐old male patient with congenital lymphoedema and an atrial septal defect (secundum type) suffered from repeated periods of unexplained fever and had an iron resistant anaemia. A high proportion of his neutrophil granulocytes consistently showed Dohle bodies. Two sisters and two brothers showed the same phenomenon. Two of these died at an early age from acute myeloblastic leukaemia. The implications of this phenomenon are discussed and the possibility that these patients may represent a new familial disorder is considered.
