S ummary . This report describes a previously unreported type of platelet released into the peripheral blood of dogs following acute blood loss. These cells display coarse, punctate condensations (reticulum) when stained supravitally with new methylene blue, and are probably analogous to reticulated erythrocytes. Both types of reticulated cells occur in increased numbers following acute blood loss.
