S ummary . Reticulocytes produced by repeated phenylhydrazine injections in rabbits and rats showed markedly increased folate activity as compared with that of mature red cells. Reticulocytes incorporated larger amounts of tritiated pteroylglutamic acid than mature red cells of rabbits, rats, and of one human subject. Marked quantitative differences were observed between the ability of the red cells of these three species to take up folate.
