SUMMARY The bone marrow has been studied by a quantitative technique in 48 guinea‐pigs from the 8th to 12th days of rebound following 7 days of hypoxia at a simulated altitude of 17,000 feet. On the 8th and 9th days of rebound there is a highly significant increase in the small lymphocytes, which form nearly 70 per cent of all the nucleated cells of the marrow. This increase is associated with a fall in the transitional lymphocytes and also of the myeloid cells. The significance of these changes is discussed.
