SUMMARY A case of aggressive systemic lupus erythematosus with a fatal outcome is described. The patient had a complement component deficiency with a strong family history of autoimmune disease. An exceptional feature of the case was the detection of a high titre of anti‐cardiolipin antibody of the IgA class only.
