SUMMARY Isoquinoline has been identified as a component of coal tar which causes interfollicular regions of parakeratotic stratum corneum in mouse tail epidermis to become orthokeratotic, with concomitant production of a granular layer. In this respect it behaves similarly to coal tar itself, and isoquinoline may contribute to the anti‐psoriatic activity of coal tar.
