SUMMARY Nineteen patients with symmetrically distributed patches of vitiligo took part in a double‐blind trial comparing 0·1% betamethasone valerate in 50% isopropyl alcohol with the unmedicated base. Fifteen patients responded to the medicated application, none to the base alone. Two patients failed to respond and two patients defaulted from the trial.
