SUMMARY The isolation of Trichophyton soudanense outside of Africa has been reported relatively infrequently and in single cases only. As far as we know widespread infection within white families has not previously been noted. We have isolated T. soudanense from seven individuals in a family of ten, from three of seven members of a second family, and from a classmate of one of the affected children in the first family.
