Summary.— The epidemiology of animal ringworm in man is reviewed in the light of 7 factors affecting the incidence of the disease in man:1  The way of life of the individual person; 2  His immunological status with regard to the fungus; 3  The possibility of human to human transmission of zoophilic fungi; 4  The geographical distribution of the fungi and of their animal hosts; 5  The incidence of infection in the animals; 6  The affinity of the different zoophilic dermatophytes for man; 7  The possibility of various forms of indirect transmission from animal to man.It is noted that the advances made in the last decade have been mainly attributable to studies in depth, pioneered by workers in Eastern Europe, and to a new interest in ringworm in wild animals.
