SUMMARY.— Factors concerned in the performance of the Porton jet injector were investigated. Changes of settings produced wide variation in the percentage of the ejected dose that actually reached its target, as well as in the depthof injection. It is concluded that, while this instrument is useful for rapid work, it leaves a great deal to be desired in reproducibility and accuracy of the delivered dose. These findings have a bearing on the use of the Porton jet injector for multiple skin injections and in procedures such as mass immunization.
