SUMMARY.— The vasoconstrictor activity of betamethasone 17‐benzoate at a concentration of 0.025% was studied in several ointment bases. Preparations containing betamethasone 17‐benzoate in white soft paraffin/propylene glycol or in white soft paraffin/isopropyl myristate both gave rise to significantly higher total vasoconstriction than the other 5 ointments tested (P<0.001) and exhibited activity comparable to that observed with Betamethasone Valerate Ointment B.P.C.
