SUMMARY A family with hereditary hypotrichosis congenita of Marie Unna type, with 4 affected members in 3 generations, is reported. The affected individual is born almost or completely hairless. Hair grows during the first months or years of life but begins to fall at about the age of puberty. The scalp hair is mainly coarse, of large calibre and irregularly twisted. Lashes and eyebrows and body hair are sparse.
