SUMMARY.— In a double blind test a 0·1% hydrocortisone butyrate o/w cream under plastic occlusion was as effective as 0·1% triamcinolone acetonide in the same vehicle and significantly better (on the 0·001 level) than hydrocortisone acetate 1% cream. The possibility is discussed that the systemic effects of 0·1% hydrocortisone butyrate creams will prove to be less than those of 0·1%, triatncinolone acetonide creams.
