SUMMARY. A patient is described who developed an urticarial and later a blistered weeping eruption on her face, anterior trunk and on her limbs, predominantly in the flexures, following silver amalgam dental treatment. This eruption was associated with moderately severe systemic effects. Patch tests confirmed that she was hypersensitive to mercury. The literature on previous reports is reviewed and a short account given of the likely degree of exposure to mercury following amalgam restoration.
