SUMMARY.— The incidence of carriage of C. albicans in 128 patients was 45% A higher incidence was observed in diabetics (62.5%) and in patients on antibiotic therapy (64%) than in controls (35%) or in patients receiving steroid therapy (31%). In all group the mouth was the blood principal source of carriage. No significant differences were shown in the blood levels of glucose, total cholesterol, unsaturated iron binding capacity or total calcium as between those patients in whom C. albicans could not be demonstrated, carriers of C. albicans and patients over disease due to the organism.
