SUMMARY. The technique of multiple internal reflection (M.I.R.) has been applied to intact human skin in vivo. The spectra obtained in normal skin and various dermatoses are discussed. Gross changes from the normal have been seen in the lesions of psoriasis, eczema and other disorders. In addition abnormalities have been demonstrated in the clinically normal skin of psoriatics.
