SUMMARY.— The glyoxylate‐shunt is a relatively rare metabolic pathway in mammals. Spectrophotometric determination of the 2,4‐dinitrophenylhydra‐zone of glyoxylic acid, formed by the incubation of rat epidermis with iso Citrate, is presented as corroborative evidence that the shunt is operative in rat skin.
