Dr. Sutton's liook is so well known and appreciated that nothing is wanting to rccouiineiul this new edition to those familiar with the earlier works. The size of the book might frighten tlie beginner into imagining that this was an advanced work whicli was beyond his requirements, but a glance through it will slunv that its imlk is largely due to illustrations. These are eo numerous as to entitle the work to l)e classified as an atlas of skin-diseases ; in fact, there are few atlases which contain so complete a pictorial record of the whole field of dermatology. They are mostly black-and-white illustrations—in fact only nine are coloured—but this does not in the least diminish tlieir value, and the author and publishers are to be congratulated not only on having secured such a large collection but on the excellence uf their reproduction. It must not, however, be supposed that the descriptions of the diseases illustrated have been neglected ; on the contrar}'. for succinct description, containing the most up-to-date information on the sultjects dealt with, the articles in the book are just what will appeal to the less expert reader.
