www.trendsinmenshealth.com TRENDS IN UROLOGY & MEN’S HEALTH SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2017 Bladder pain syndrome (BPS), also referred to as interstitial cystitis (IC), is a chronic and debilitating condition. It presents with lower urinary tract symptoms in the form of urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, and suprapubic and pelvic pain. The severity of the symptoms varies from person to person. It is diagnosed after ruling out other conditions that may have similar symptoms (ie it is a diagnosis of exclusion) (Box 1).
