1 Indoramin and methyldopa were compared in a randomized controlled double blind trial of 89 patients who continued to be hypertensive after 3 weeks' baseline treatment with a diuretic. 2 The antihypertensive effect of indoramin was significant and similar to that of methyldopa. Although an α‐receptor blocking drug, indoramin did not lead to cumulation, postural hypotension or reflex tachycardia. Side‐effects were few and comparable with methyldopa.
