Freshwater prawn M acrobrachium rosenbergii aquaculture continues to expand in the U nited S tates though is still a relatively small industry. Innovations continue to improve efforts in harvesting with novel harvest basin designs and concrete internal pond aprons. Purging and holding strategies are more defined. Some producers are now investing in water re‐use systems to extend holding times for many days, making prawns more readily available for market. The lucrative live‐market, which historically has had many challenges, seems poised for success when following new protocols which address handling and oxygen stress.
