The current status of the farming of M acrobrachium species in C hina is presented, including the scale of production and with an emphasis on its farming technology. The problems faced and research needed for the further development of freshwater prawn farming of C hina is also reviewed. Finally, this paper discusses the prospects and future expansion in this sector of national aquaculture.
