. During field research bream were marked by cutaneous injection of liquid latex dye. In the first week after marking a temporary inflammatory response could be seen in the tissue of the scale pouches. However, there was no evidence of tissue response to latex in bream recaptured 4–6 months after marking and secondary infections at the site of marking were not observed. Latex was found to be a harmless method of marking bream.
