Summary Evidence is presented that recessive species‐specific antigens are present in pigeons and doves as determined by antiserum absorptions with cells of the opposing parental and Fi birds. This confirms and extends earlier observations by M. R. Irwin and L. J. Cole and adds another species. A simple model is presented postulating a relationship between genes, enzymes, and ‘dominant and recessive’ antigens.
