Summary Levels of 18 different enzymes and 16 glycolytic intermediates and nucleotides were measured in the erythrocytes of high‐glutathione and low‐glutathione type sheep; they were found to be similar in the two groups. Glutathione peroxidase activity was, however, significantly higher in the erythrocytes of high‐glutathione than in low‐glutathione sheep. Our results indicated no apparent differences in most of the biochemical and/or physiological characteristics of the erythrocytes of sheep with different glutathione types.
