Summary Cattle erythrocyte sensitivity towards the haemolytic factor of bovine seminal vesicles is genetically determined. On grounds of Mendelian analysis, two alleles, Hf R and Hf S , may be considered responsible for genetic determination. No significant linkage has been proved between locus Hf controlling the mentioned sensitivity and locus Hb determining the individual differences in haemoglobins. Different sensitivity of cattle erythrocytes towards the haemolytic factor is manifested already at the embryonic stage of development and lasts throughout the whole life.
