Summary A case is reported of acute rhabdomyolytic renal failure following surgery for minor superficial skin burns. Rhabdomyolysis apparently started peri‐operatively. Possible initiating causes are discussed, notably tourniquet ischaemia. The pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment are reviewed.
