Summary A review of the anaesthetic management of severe skin disease is presented. Erythroderma, urticaria pigmentosa, hereditary angioedema, epidermolysis bullosa, pemphigus, pemphigoid, the Stevens‐Johnson syndrome, Behcet's syndrome, scleroderma, Ehlers‐Danlos syndrome and congenital anhidrotic ectodermal defect are discussed.
