Summary Paracetamol absorption after oral adminstration was studied in eleven patients immediately after a short general anasthetic for cystoscopy and also in eight healthy volunteers. There were no statistical differences between the rate of paracetamol absorption in the two groups. This suggests that oral medication may be given immediately following a short general anasthetic when opioid drugs are avoided.
