Summary Forty‐two children received either nefopam or a maiched placebo as oral premedication in a double‐blind trial. Nefopam performed no better than placebo as a prernedication and as postoperative analgesic. Its use is not recommended in paediatric anasthesia because of a significanily high incidence of vomiting on awakening.
