Summary Tracheal dilatation in a patient with a cuffed vocal‐aid plastic tracheostomy tube is described. Dilatation followed the inadvertent connexion of continuous flow oxygen, necessary for voice production, to the pilot tube of the tracheal cuff. A modification of the tube is described, and recommendations for future use of such tubes are discussed.
