Summary A case of persisting airflow obstruction following the acute effects of smoke inhalation injury is reported. Despite severe persistent abnormalities of pulmonary function the patient complained of no major disability. Serial pulmonary function tests should be performed after smoke inhalation injury as residual lung damage may have been underestimated.
