Summary This contribution to our knowledge of the plant ecology of Kenyan drought‐deciduous woodland continues a study undertaken in 1983.(i) A detailed report on the woodland floor is presented, partitioning the litter types into undisturbed, game trails and bare soil, so that the importance of plants and animals in maintaining litter can be better envisaged. (ii) The Acacia‐Commiphora woodland on the basement‐derived soils, which may be considered a typical facies of such woodland types, is further analysed floristically. (iii) Some data of establishment and growth are used to suggest insights into the demography of many species. (iv) Finally, the stability and status of the woodland is discussed.Résumé Cette contribution à la connaissance de l'écologie végétale d'une forêt sclérophylle décidue au Kenya prolonge une étude entreprise en 1983.(i) On présente un rapport détaillé sur l'étage du sol en distinguant les types de litiéres: non dearangée, piste d'animal, sol nu, de façon a mettre en évidence Pimportance des plantes et des animaux sur le maintien du sol. (ii) La forêt a Acacia‐Commiphora sur les sols primitifs, qui peut être considérée comme l'exemple type de ce genre de forêt, est davantage analysée au point de vue floristique. (iii) Quelques données concernant la genèse et la croissance servent à suggérer un apercu de la démographie de nombreuses espèces. (iv) La stabilityé et le statut de cette forêt sont discutés.
