Summary Several human settlements within or bordering the park were surveyed. Goats were present in most villages and browsed most intensely between 09.00 and 12.00 hours. Bushes were browsed during the rainy season and, by the peak of the dry season, many Capparis tomentosa bushes close to human settlements were severely over‐browsed. As the browse close to the settlements decreased, especially during the dry season, the goats penetrated the park.
