Population structure and seasonal fluctuations of the Falconiformes in Uganda National Parks

Summary The population structure and seasonal fluctuations of the Falconiformes were studied in three national parks in Uganda. Fifty to fifty‐eight species of Falconiformes were recorded in every park, thirty‐three to thirty‐six of them being regular and common. Compared to man‐modified habitats, the natural savannas of Ugandan national parks, with enormous populations of large mammals, have a relatively high density of vultures and eagles. Résumé La structure des populations et les fluctuations saisonnières des Falconiformes ont été etudiées dans trois Parcs Nationaux en Ouganda. Dans chaque Parc, de cinquante à cinquante‐huit espèces de Falconiformes ont été enregistrées; parmi celles‐ci, de trente‐trois à trente‐six espèces sont régulières et communes. En comparaison des habitats modifiés par l'homme, les savanes naturelles des Parc Nationaux ougandais, avec leurs énormes popuIations de grands mammifères, ont une densité relativement élevée de vautours et d'aigles.
