The tall, rounded sealed type of mound and the tall corneal type with open chimneys were excavated and details of the internal struetnre, especially the form of the fungus gardens and royal chamber, are given. There are notes on associated insects and plante. The tube‐forming termite Odontoter‐mes classicus I3 discussed briefly, and there are notes on three other species of termite. A discussion of the ecologi‐cal effeets of termites on pastures, with or without the presence of man and his domeatic animais, concludes the paper.
