Summary Descriptions are given of various methods which have been used in the field and in the laboratory to obtain and investigate specimens for comparative studies of the anatomy of East African game animals. Fixation of the animals via the blood vascular system, if possible, with the animal in a natural standing position, is described. Experiences in this respect are recorded in detail, including the preparation of a standing ostrich with its airsac ‐ system unfolded by pumping air into it during infusion of formalin. Emphasis is laid on saving the maximum amount of material from the minimum number of specimens.
