Summary The case report discusses a 16‐year‐old girl with a history of commercial butane gas abuse over a year. As the patient had collected the empty cannisters, it was possible to calculate the quantity abused which is not usually possible due to lack of co‐operation and lack of evidence. Other aspects discussed are the mode of inhalation, accessibility, and psychological consequences.
