Summary A 29 year old male patient is described having a history of multiple drug and alcohol abuse, insulin dependent diabetes with exceptionally severe hypoglycemic episodes, and memory impairment. Observations during an in‐patient admission suggested excessive self‐administration of insulin was compounding a confusing clinical picture. This combination of conditions appears to be unique in clinical literature, to which reference is made in discussion of some possible pathogeneses for the patient's hypoglycemic attacks and memory difficulty.
