Summary The proband group consists of 71 female alcoholics subjected to compulsory treatment by the Temperance Board. The correlation between 10 variables is recorded. Corrective training, gonorrhoea, recorded criminal offences, age 34 or younger at the first compulsory treatment represent a cluster of sociomedical symptoms. Also included to some extent are : at least five convictions for drunkenness and 0‐class (= not insured for daily sickness allowance) or disability pension. Another and independent correlation is found between frequent sickness periods and at least one long period of public assistance.
