If one defines alcoholism as a chronic disease which interferes with the drinker's health, or his social or economic functioning, then I would say that Greece has no severe problem in respect of alcoholism. In Greece wine is consumed in large quantities, but the number of people who suffer from chronic alcoholism is very low. This is firstly because wine is less physically harmful, and secondly because the price is low, thus avoiding any disastrous financial consequences. (A litre of wine costs less than 2 shillings.)
