Some progress has been made in studying the relationship between phenylethanol and the alcohol dehydrogenase of mammalian liver. We have now found that under conditions similar to those in which dehydrogenation of ethanol can be observed, phenylethanol also undergoes dehydrogenation by this enzyme.
