We reported a patient with a Bednar tumor who developed local recurrence 23 years later. The recurrent Bednar tumor showed the histopathological features of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), and expressed CD34. We favor the term “Bednar tumor” rather than pigmented DFSP and consider that Bednar tumor is an intermediate type between cellular blue nevus and DFSP.
