A Case of Linear IgA Bullous Dermatosis with Atypical Clinical and Ultrastructural Manifestations

We report a case of linear IgA bullous dermatosis which presented with atypical clinical and ultrastructural findings. The patient initially manifested small, subepidermal blisters scattered only in the seborrheic region. On follow‐up, grouped vesicles developed in a circular form similar to dermatitis herpetiformis. They subsided after treatment with diaminodiaphenyl sulphon. Immunofluorescent study showed predominant linear IgA deposits accompanied with IgG and C3 along the basement membrane zone. These deposits existed at the floor of the blister. Ultrastructurally, immunoreactants were demonstrated beneath the lamina densa while separation occurred at lamina lucida.
