A comparative study of de Morgan's spots in one hundred diabetics with retinal microangiopathy, one hundred diabetics without retinopathy, and one hundred normal persons showed a definite relationship between microangiopathy in retina and macroangiopathy in the form of de Morgan's spots on the skin of uncontrolled diabetic patients. The frequency of cases with de Morgan's spots on the skin was significantly higher in diabetics with retinal microangiopathy at all ages irrespective of sex than that in diabetics without retinal microangiopathy or normal persons. The spots were most numerous and prominent in patients with retinal microangiopathy.
