Acquired periungual fibrokeratoma is essentially a topographical variant of acquired fibrokeratoma and shows a full variety of clinical features according to the specific location of each neoplasm in its relation to the nail. The protean clinical manifestations of this condition are difficult to fit together into an entity. A new classification into two groups with five subtypes, based on the anatomical and histological architecture of the nail is proposed. According to this classification, the obscure relationships among previously described cases are discussed.
