Monoclonal antibodies provide one of the most powerful molecular‐recognition tools now available to the field of tumor immunology and other branches of biomedical research. Examples of applications of murine monoclonal antibodies to the epitope and structural analysis of a human melanoma‐associated oncofetal antigen gp87 are described.
